When I began this series, my setting was to be Falstone. This area is south of the Kielder Water Reservoir in Northumberland, UK. I had completed most of book 1 and was trying to find an appropriate title. My book naming process begins with an idea and then a search for titles of the same name. So I searched for Falstone, and it came back with Christmas at Falstone Castle by Sarah M. Eden.
I just plucked the setting of my castle from the air after looking over a UK map. My process was to find an area that had no castle or once did have a castle but was in ruins. Imagine my surprise when I saw there might just have been a Falstone Castle. I contacted Sarah and discovered we had made up the same castle. She told me she had several projects with Falstone as the setting.
I, of course, had to read her book, and I loved it. But she created a grand castle, and I planned for my castle to be tiny, with only one tower. But, since hers was already written and her castle well developed, I decided I should change my castle name. So, I searched the maps again and found Ravenshill, which became the perfect location for Snakes & Wolves.
